Thinking of Renovating? Be Asbestos Aware.

Asbestos insulation was commonly used in the building of houses in Australia prior to the 1990s. Whilst asbestos is no longer used in buildings, modern-day renovations of houses built in the 20th century can dislodge asbestos particles, sending potentially deadly dust into the air.

“As the building fabric of workplaces and homes containing asbestos products has aged, it has become more dangerous, because the loosened fibres are released into the atmosphere” the Australian Asbestos Network warns.

If you are unsure if asbestos is in your home, it is strongly recommended that you have your home inspected for unsafe asbestos by a licensed removalist, licensed assessor, or occupational hygienist before undertaking any renovations.
