  1. How long have you been working in conveyancing?

Over 20 years!

  1. What made you want to start your own business?

After gaining plenty of experience working with some fantastic mentors, I felt my next career move was to embark on building my own business from the ground up. This correlated with the birth of my daughter and as such enabled a flexible working life as well as allowing me to concentrate on being a first time mum.

  1. For someone looking to get into the property market for the first time, what would be your best piece of advice?

I think the number one thing for a first home buyer is to determine a realistic price range by discussing numbers with their bank or mortgage broker. Then if they are looking to live in the property a decision should be made as to location with affordability in mind.

When looking to invest or reside in property buyers should look at surrounding characteristics and consider future growth. Investors should also discuss options with their accountant in terms of the buying entity and any structures moving forward.

Once a contract has been signed buyers should request their conveyancer to review the documentation and provide any feedback from the information contained therein. It is particularly important to obtain information in relation to council approvals and environment protection responses.

  1. What is the most important thing to consider from a conveyancing perspective when selling a property?

That contract documentation is prepared correctly. This includes the Form 1 which must be prepared using statutory searches that relate to the property.

  1. What types of services can Eastern Conveyancing provide?

We are proficient in all conveyancing needs, including land division, family transfers, commercial conveyancing, business conveyancing, matrimonial settlements and residential conveyancing.

  1. What is your favourite part of the job?

Completing a job and feeling very satisfied that we have made our client happy whether selling or buying property. Providing a service whereby any query or problem is not too difficult. We will always find the answer.

  1. How do you think the SA market will go in 2021?

There is no sign of the industry going quiet any time soon. With the various government stimulus available this seems to have supercharged the industry for the time being, particularly in the building sector. It is hard to predict how the second half of 2021 will play out but I feel the first half of 2021 will be much the same as it is now.

  1. How do you like to spend your time off?

Exercising, catching up with friends for dinner/drinks, walking my dog, spending time with my daughter.

  1. What’s your favourite food?

I really like sashimi at the moment.

  1. What would be the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery?

Donate money to charity, particularly bushfire and COVID-19 related causes, and buy more property!
